Hunger, control, the senses: music therapy in bulimia |
Journal/Book: Musiktherapeutische Umschau. 1989; 10: STUTTGART. G. Fischer Verlag. 135-143.
Abstract: The author believes music therapy to be a methos especially predestined for the treatment of eating disorders. In her interpretation, bulimia is the search and hunger for expression and resonance. With the example of "Anna" from her practice, she demonstrates that in working with bulimics it is more than just a question of insight: what is needed is as alternative means of expression, of experiencing, of re-owning one's body, so that the deficient self can be strengthened and re-nourished and a new beginning is possible.
