Abstract: This paper is a working draft of possible options for the future of music therapy. Its intent is to consolidate many of the myriad issues affecting current and future professional paractice and to stimulate thought about the training standards of the profession of music therapy as delineated by three separate organizations in the field. A further purpose is to explore the benefits of uniform educational standards so that any diversity may exist between levels of music therapy expertise rather than between varieties of entry-level preparation.
