Abstract: In-patient psychotherapy of anorexia and bulimia. Part I of the article introduces the in-patient treatment concept practised at the Psychotherapy Clinic in Stuttgart-Sonnenberg, South Germany. The various methods of approach are presented and specific features of the long-term (9-month) haspital treatment discussed, with particular refernece to its regression promoting elements and the transference effects it produces. In part II gertrud Katja Loos presents a form of treatment for anorexia nervosa that is integrated in the general concept described in Part I. As well as music therapy - which here focuses on the experience of sound and rhythm - it involves body awareness, focussing on the experience of what is exterior to the body.
