Natalism as pre and perinatal metaphor |
Journal/Book: Pre and Peri Natal Psychology Journal. 1989; 4: 83-110.
Abstract: Explores the theory of natalism, which proposes that symbolic expression of birth and prenatal consciousness can be found in art, mythology, and creative expression (e.g., dance, poetry, music). Topics discussed include pre- and perinatal consciousness, metaphoric displacement through natalism, natalistic myths, and artistic symbols representing birth. Examination of the meanings behind natalistic symbols may aid in understanding pre- and perinatal issues in history, culture, and personality.
Note: birth & prenatal consciousness memory; creative expression in art & myth
