Computer-assisted assessment of melodic and rhythmic discrimination skills |
Journal/Book: Journal of Music Therapy. 1989; 26: 79-87.
Abstract: Examined the feasibility of using a computer software program, Toney Listens to Music (TLM), as an assessment tool with 45 mentally retarded students (aged 9-21 yrs; IQs 41-59). Melodic and rhythmic discrimination skills presented in 4 levels of TLM were administered to Ss. Results indicate the TLM may be a potential tool for assessing musical discrimination skills in handicapped children, particularly those with minimal communication skills.
