Psychosomatic therapy in bulimia |
Journal/Book: Musiktherapeutische Umschau. 1989; 10: Stuttgart. G. Fischer Verlag. 90-104.
Abstract: In spite of some overlap and hybrid forms, bulimia and anorexia nervosa differ both in their pathogenesis and their symtomatology. Each requires a parallel and combined somato- and psychotherapy, modified as relevant to the individual patient and illness. The article describes the author's experience with 700 patients and the following therapies: depth psychology-based individual therapy and theme-centred group therapy; non-verbal and preverbal forms: associative painting therapy and depth psychology-based music therapy; body-focussed self-experience and relaxation therapies as well as family therapy.
