Eclectic blending of theory in the supervision of art psychotherapists. Special Issue: Education and training in the creative arts therapies |
Journal/Book: Arts in Psychotherapy. 1989; 16: 37-43.
Abstract: Following the research on therapeutic integration of G. R. Leddick and J. M. Bernard (1980), a model of supervision is suggested that eclectically blends psychodynamic, interpersonal, person-centered, and behavioral approaches. The model is applied in an art psychotherapy supervision of a professional musician who had requested therapy to help her to deal with problematic heterosexual relationships. Each of the 4 approaches is elucidated, and a description is provided of how these approaches are blended in a supervisory relationship with a beginning therapist.
