Abstract: GIM has in recent years generated interest for music therapy practitioners in clinical practice. GIM therapy is defined and described; private practice is recommended; and therapist's qualifications are delineated. A summary of research relevant to clinical poulations is discussed with recommendations and contraindications for treatment.
