Abstract: The supplementation of w-3-fatty acids cause various alterations in the metabolic pathways of eicosanoids, lipids and cell membranes. These beneficial properties can be used for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, because they mainly improve blood rheology. In addition, the w-3-fatty acids have some influence an the metabolism of inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. Some of the most important physiological effects being recently published are represented in this review.
