Abstract: An analgesic ointment (Vaxi-cum) had been tested in 32 female and male runners in an extreme endurance test, i. e. in the Wuppertal - Kosice/CSSR run of about 200 km to be run in 8 days. The ointment was applied to all athlets several times a day to prevent signs of overstress or injuries and to some of them with corresponding affections of the ac-tive and passive locomotor systems as the most important therapeutical mea-sure.On request, all runners judged the efficacy of the analgesic ointment to be, ,good" to,, very good".This altogether positive judgement mainly based an the subjectively agree- able, cooling and refreshing feeling after inunction and an the rapid reduction in motion and pressure pain: these being preconditions enabling a normal and well prepared locomotor system, that is important for ultralong running, and preveting and/or effectively fighting lesions due to overstress.
