Abstract: Cynarine-containing drugs increase the He production in case of an insufficient bile secretion and thus have a positive effect an patients suffering from bilious dyspepsia due to a disturbed lipolysis. These effects have been verified by animal studies and may be reproduced in clinical tests. Recent studies have revealed that cynarine has a lipid-lowering effect. Cynarine is very well tolerated and may be combined with other drugs without any problems. Monodrugs or extractum cynarae are available for therapeutical measures.
