Präparationen aus nichtvermehrungsfähigen Bakterien als therapeutisches Prinzip |
Journal/Book: Erfahrungsheilkunde. 1989; 38/8: 481-484.
Abstract: Inactivated bacteria in different preparations belong to the group of organotherapeutics. After a short historic glance at former experiments with such compounds in vaccinotherapy of acute infectious diseases and its risks. physiology of absorption of these organotherapeutics by mucosa and skin of humans (Herbst-effect) will be discussed. Bacteria or their fragments. absorbed by the body via this persorption, are recognized by the immune system in the lamina propria of all mucous membranes in a germ-specific manner (formation and secretion of immunoglobulin A (IgA) and protective layer of secretory IgA an the mucosal surface) and non-specific way (induction of macrophages, increase in phagocytic rate, stimulation of complement, properdin, interferons, interleukins. etc.). Strengthening of non-specific infection defence, called paramunity today, is more important than production of specific immunoglobulins. Infection defence of skin differs from that of mucosa and is not yet as well examined. In the skin a cellular defence system of T lymphocytes is activated, assisted by Langerhans cells and interleukins. Finally 3 examples for the good efficacy of such preparations are mentioned: oral administration of a preparation of heat- inactivated lyophilized intestinal bacteria, cutaneous application of a phenolinactivated bacterial culture suspension (BKS) and inhalation therapy with a polyvalent liquid bacterial lysate.
