Abstract: Assessed teacher attitudes toward music therapy in the education of exceptional students. A questionnaire based on music therapy objectives that were combined and categorized under various skill areas (social, self-esteem, academic/communication, auditory, visual, motor, social integration, and arts performance) was completed by 37 teachers whose students had received music therapy services. 54% of respondents requested that more time be allotted to music therapy, and 38% asked for the same amount of time in the future; Ss' comments concerning the most important result of music therapy with their students were also compiled. Survey results demonstrate the high esteem in which music therapy was held by those teachers most directly involved, and documented the overall perception of effectiveness as related to specific music therapy goals.
