A voz interior e o drama cantado. (The inner voice and opera.) |
Journal/Book: Revista Portuguesa de Psicanalise. 1988; 6:
Abstract: Discusses the psychodynamics of opera loving, asking what makes opera lovers want to listen to familiar scores repeatedly. The importance of sound as an element in the child's environment, even before birth, is emphasized, suggesting a comparison of music with being in love. There seems to be a 2-dimensional parallelism in the evolution of sound (i.e., from sound to language and from sound to music) to convey emotions and feeling. A singer's voice evokes emotions hard to express in words. Thus, the sung word becomes part of the inner voice. (French & English abstracts)
