Goal setting: the patientīs assessment of outcome and recognition of therapeutic change |
Journal/Book: Complementary Medical Research. 1988; 3: 89-97.
Abstract: In the setting of therapeutic goals with the patient there is the possibility of recognizing change when it has occurred. If this occurs in a family consultation then all parties that are involved have the opportunity to say what they would like to change, and how they would know when change had occurred. Therefore, paeple who are faced with too many, ot too rapid, changes may elect for stabilisation of a situation. Such "no change" would not be appreciated by measuring instruments that depend upon changes on a particular rating scale, but would be an important element in an assessment of therapeutic success.
