Single case research designs |
Journal/Book: Complementary Medical Research. 1988; 3: 37-46.
Abstract: Single case designs are an extension of the case study. They offer various levels of scientific rigour ranging from the randomised allocation of treatment withina single case treatment plan, to the use of journals and diaries to collect patient data over time. Single case designs allow the subject to be involved in the process of research, if requested. These designs are particularly good for generating research hypotheses suitable for larger scale studies. It is proposed that we develop a research base in Europe that will collect and cooordinate single case studies for comparison.
