Apollo and Marsyas: A metaphor of creative conflict |
Journal/Book: Psychoanalytic Review. 1988; 75: 319-338.
Abstract: Discusses the mythical musical contest between Apollo and Marsyas as an example of creative conflict. It may be seen as a metaphor for the Oedipus conflict, for preoedipal issues of potential space between inside and outside (D. W. Winnicot, 1965), and for the split image of self.
Note: psychoanalytic interpretation; mythical musical contest between Apollo and Marsyas as creative conflict
