Behandlung des forgeschrittenen kolorektalen Karzinoms

Abstract: Of all malign diseases the colorectal carcinoma takes the second place of frequency according to recent statistics, the estimated incidence runs up to a total of 50.000 a year. One third of the patients can only be cured by operafive measures. Therefore, only palliative possibilities of treatment are given in the stage of metastatic spread so far.The present study wants to check wh~rl'.or the relatively good results in the treatment of colorectal carcinoma by means of 5-FU and large-dose folinic acid described in literature can be repeated, and whether even an improvement of the results may be achieved by addition of an optimalised treatment with viscum album.This study is based on 40 patients. 20 patients were administered 5-fluoro-uracil and highdose folinic acid, the other 20 were given an additional treatment with viscum album. Due to this additional treatment not only the degree of response (CR + PR + NC) was significantly higher, but also the pronlongation of life after first formation of metastases.
