Abstract: Fasting is the strongest appeal to the natural self-healing forces of man and that seen both physically and mentally. In co-operation of a will to regain one's health of which will one is aware with the vegetative processes of adjustment fasting becomes the basis of a holistic order therapy. The physiological resp. pathophysiological processes of metabolism and regulation of a "vegetative total change" to "internal nutrition" and "internal digestion" are the basis of the therapeutical approaches of fasting. As with any therapy a carefully made diagnosis is the prerequisite for fasting. Provided that the range of indication is not exceeded and the contra-indications are observed fasting exhibits a wide array of efficacy without any risks and that above all in case of risk diseases combined with adipositas, in case of chronic diseases as well as in case of degenerative organic changes especially of the motorial apparatus.Training the physical condition, schooling the psychological behaviour in particular the appetence as well as the dietetic information belong to the indispensable general programme of fasting. It is understandable that one will succeed best in meeting all these requirements in the most favourable way far away from the bothering and seductive every day's life in the seclusion of a well organized clinic for fasting directed by a physician.
