Abstract: Haemorrhages with transurethral resections of the prostate (TURP) are a serious complication. For the patients who are normally of higher age and multi morbid they mean a further, not to underestimate, complication. The systemic haemostyptics or antihaemorrhagic chemotherapeutic substances used in urology, are disputed in their effects and disappointing in their results. Therefore a new therapeutic test with a haemostyptic phyto-remedy seems to be sensible. This haemostyptic TRILLIUM Nestmann-is a mite-remedy and has no unwanted side effects. It contains synergistic haemostyptic plant extracts and homeopathic ingredients. The effectivity of this remedy is tested in a prospective, comparative, open and randomised clinical study. It includes 40 patients with hypertrophy of the prostate who had to undergo a TURP.In comparison to the control group (n = 20), the patients under TRILLIUM Nestmann (7 days before op 3 x 20 drops, 5 days after op 3 x 50 drops and up to 3 weeks after op 3 x 20 drops) show a distinctive reduction of the perioperative tendency to haemorrhages, of the postoperative haemorrhagic complications and of catheter- and micturition difficulties. In no case is there a blood transfusion with a TRILLIUM-patient necessary. The average time of the postoperative indwelling catheter is shorter and the formation of residual urine less. Laboratory parameter show no significant difference.
