Entwicklung Aufgabe und Bedeutung der Anschlußheilbehandlung (AHB)

Abstract: Development Tasks and Significance of Follow-Up Care (FUC) Follow-up care (FUC) practised for the first time in the Federal Republic of Germany on myocardial infarction patients at the "Kurklinik" of the "Landesversicherungsanstalt Schwaben" at Bad Wörishofen in 1961 was a revolutionary innovation in the rehabilitation field. This has since been extended to other indications thus making it acceptable to universities as well. This ensures smooth takeover from treatment in a hospital for the acutely ill to another hospital specially equipped for rehabilitative follow-up care resulting in more rapid regaining of the patients' ability to return to gainful employment. This in turn improves the quality of life saves sickness benefit payments hospital costs and payment of disability pensions and - last but not least - helps to increase production. This requires a new concept and new definition of rehabilitation since the number of pensions that have to be paid because of inability to practise a profession or to be gainfully employed is decreasing because more persons are being pensioned earlier so that less effort is required to prevent premature job disability. Zusammenfassung Die Abschlußheilbehandlung (AHB) in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland erstmals bei Herzinfarktpatienten in der Kurklinik der LVA Schwaben Bad Wörishofen im Jahr 1961 praktiziert bedeutete auf dem Rehabilitationssektor eine revolutionierende Neuerung. Ihre Ausweitung auf weitere Indikationen hat die AHB auch in Universitätskreisen "hoffähig" gemacht. Durch ihre Einführung ist nun ein nahtloses Ineinandergreifen der Behandlung im Akutkrankenhaus und der rehabilitativen Nachbehandlung in der AHB-Klinik gewährleistet woraus eine raschere Wiederherstellung der Arbeitsfähigkeit resultiert. Das Ergebnis: gesteigerte Lebensqualität Einsparung an Krankengeld Krankenhauskosten und Rentenzahlung Steigerung der Produktion. Eine neue Konzeption des Rehabilitationssektors ist angezeigt da wegen der durch die stetige Vorverlegung der Altersruhegeldgrenze rückläufigen Zahl von BU/EU-Renten auch die Maßnahmen zu deren Verhütung naturgemäß weniger werden.
