Prevention programming in mental health: An issue for consideration by music and drama therapists

Abstract: Analyzed 9 music therapy articles, 1804-1899, that appeared in medical journals and dissertations. The articles indicated interest in the use of music to provide an alternate, more holistic approach to treatment. The dissemination of music therapy ideas occurred almost exclusively through these publications, which unfortunately resulted in limited proliferation of the topic because the audience was primarily physicians.
