Abstract: This paper presents the details of an experimental project which was conducted at the Kansas School for the Deaf. The study is entitled "The Use of Picture Song Books to Aid the Development of Sight Vocabulary in Hearing Impaired Children". Two main conclusions were drawn from the study a) picture song books are an effective way of developing all components of sight vocabulary; b) picture song books are equally effective over a range of ages (in the case of this study, six to ten years). This paper is not intended as a clinical report of research findings, but as a guide to the considerations one may need to make in pursuing clinical research.
