Music therapy: Therapy for debilitated musicians |
Journal/Book: Music Therapy Perspectives. 1987; 4: 40-43.
Abstract: A case study of a 34-yr-old female cellist suffering from performance anxiety and muscle fatigue illustrates the applicability of music therapy to the performance problems of musicians. A combined treatment of music psychotherapy, biofeedback, systematic desensitization, and cognitive restructuring was effective in reducing shoulder pain, increasing positive performance attitudes, and improving both self-esteem and performance quality.
