Raga Experience as Therapeutic Music

Abstract: This paper discusses the therapeutic use of the Indian raga by examining the tritone inherent in the Raga Kalyan. Several writers and composers are referred to in describing the nature of this aspect of Raga Kalyan. The therapeutic use of this raga is achieved by changing the perspective within the raga, i.e. joining other scales, adding or accentuating other intervals.
