Journal/Book: Elementary School Guidance and Counseling. 1987; 21: 284-291.
Abstract: Describes a variety of methods that incorporate music into the counseling and guidance of children in kindergarten through Grade 8. A song about feelings is offered, and 2 other musical activities designed to facilitate self-awareness and understanding, the feelings ensemble and the feelings symphony, are described. Music collage, background music for guided fantasy, and giving feedback through singing are also discussed. It is suggested that even counselors who view themselves as musically untalented can use music to enhance the total counseling program.
