Music therapy at the Lemmens institute

Abstract: In 1985, a course of music therapy was organized at the Lemmens Institute. It is an optional subject within the course of the pedagogics of music. Its aim is to gain a clear insight in the possibilities and the limitations of the music therapy. Its emphasis is the self experience bij means of music. Here the psychological and physical influence of music, the musical- esthetical prejudices and the different inter- and intrapsychological interactions are awakened and the use of music as a means of communication is taught. Most students follow the course to increase their music pedagogical study or to prepare for a music therapeutic education abroad.
