Beeinflussung der Granulozytenfunktion durch Sauna-Therapie

Abstract: The present study comprises tire ability of polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMN) to form superoxide radicals from nine male regular sauna frequenters and eight male sauna beginners. Superoxide production (02 ) was determined photometrically as the reduction of lodophenyl-nitrophenyl-phenyltetrazoliumchloride (INT). The regular sauna users exhibited a slight decrease of activity in PMN, which was only little influenced by sauna-bathing. In contrast, the cells of irregular sauna frequenters showed a decreased lNT-reduction and two days after sauna-bathing the corresponding values were found to be less than prior to the beginning. The main reasons for the different experiences after sauna-bathing in infectious disorders are the varying susceptibility of cells influenced by mediators, the change of cellular defense system by drugs and the structure and type of pathogens.
