Behaviour therapy in a case of trichotillomania

Abstract: Describes the case of a 34-yr-old male with acute trichotillomania. Behavior therapy components included bandaging of S's hands, with the bandages removed briefly during the day; engaging S in music therapy and literature; use of positive and negative reinforcement; and supportive psychotherapy during critical treatment phases. S was symptom-free 3 mo after hospital discharge.
