Abstract: This study aims to determine whether music based sensory retraining reverses or retards psychological deterioration in the aged, and whether these effects are maintained by follow up treatment. Three groups of ten subjects were used to test the hypotheses that music based sensory retraining would improve the cognitive level and ward behavior of psychogeriatric inpatients, and that improvements would be maintained by follow up treatment. Results showed a significant interaction between groups on the variable perceptual-motor skills, but no other significant results.
