Abstract: Summary of a lecture which reflects the main lines of Frans Schalkwijk's research. It is indicated which development care of mentally handicapped has gone through in the last decades and how this development correlates with methods in music therapy. The research is aimed at the relation between indication-aims-choice of therapeutic techniques.
