Abstract: In the present study, the Music/Activity Therapy Intake Assessment was administered to a sample of 93 institutionalized psychiatric patients. The data indicated that internal consistency for the attitude scales is r =.77 for interpersonal relationshipos, r = .68 for altruism-optimism, and r = .72 for self-concept. Factor analyses indicated that each scale measures a single large dimension, and that each of these three scales significantly discriminates among diagnostic groups. For the Activity Preference Inventory section of the Assessment, discriminant function analysis indicated significant differences in subject responses according to diagnostic groupings.
