The Work of the Council for Music in Hospitals |
Abstract: This organisation provides l,000 live concerts each year in hospitals, homes, hospices throughout the UK. Music is adjusted to individual needs and doctors and staff report on the great benefit derived by their patients. Professional musicians are chosen for the high standard of their musicianship and ability to communicate with patients and involve them in the performance. A wide range of music is available - instrumentalists, singers, dancers etc. The Council is a registered charity. Some hospitals pay a small charge but many concerts are given free when sponsorship is available. The rest of the money comes from charitable sources. This Paper is available from the BSMT. Price ú3.
