On the Combining of Music Therapy and Psychodrama |

Abstract: The following observations are the product of many years' clinical experience with psychodrama and music therapy in the treatment of patients at a Psychiatric Hospital (Winnenden, West Germany). They represent an attempt - to indicate similarities and differences between psychodrama and music therapy, - to contribute to the discussion of the possible combination of these to forms of therapy, - to define each of them more precisely, - to examine the therapeutic function of a combined form, - and to illustrate by examples form therapy sessions the author's way of working with psychodrama and music therapy. (Basic knowledge of both forms of therapy is assumed).
