Music Therapy in a Neapolitan Clinic

Abstract: In the first part of this report the author discusses a music therapy project run in the department "Stella" of the Psychiatric Hospital L. Bianchi, Naples. He explains the progress of the project, which involved establishing contact with adult psychotic patients by means of non-verbal communication: sounds, music and movement. The latter part of the article contains a protocol of the therapeutic setting, giving a clearer idea of how it is possible, in spite of great difficulties, to communicate with psychotics.
