The effects of a Song Prompt on Increasing Short-Term Memory in Nursing Home Residents

Abstract: This study examined the effects of a song prompt on increasing short-term memory in nursing home redidents. Twelve elderly people with short-term memory problems participated in the study. An ABACA experimental design was implemented. When Treatment One (discussion) was applied, verbal memory recall increased 74,7%. These results indicated that the use of a song was an effective means for eliciting correct short-term memory responses from the geriatric population.
