Physical examination of the professional singer |
Journal/Book: J Otolaryngol. 1983; 12: 277-81.
Abstract: Examination of the professional singer must include an assessment of his general health and a thorough ear, nose, and throat evaluation. However, the physical examination can reveal much more than simply the appearance of the singer's vocal cords. The physician must be attuned to the singer's use of his speaking voice. Examination of actual singing allows specific observations that may substantiate a diagnosis of voice abuse or may guide the physician in his selection of therapy.
