Abstract: This paper studies the problem of closeness and distance in clinical music and movement therapy with groups of psychotic patients. In part 1 we give examples which show the patients'"get away" reactions during the music or movement improvisation phases respectively. Based on these examples we discuss in part 2 the therapist's action and support, and demonstrate in concluding examples the balancing of closeness and distance.
