Abstract: Describes how the choice of music therapy form in dynamic group-centered psychotherapy is governed by the objectives of therapy for the particular group situation. Close cooperation between the therapists dealing with the group is a prerequisite. As long as the therapists work to a strictly defined plan, both active and reactive music therapy can be used to augment the other forms of treatment by encouraging experience and by awakening the emotions of the patients, which helps in coping with the unconscious intrapsychic conflict.
