Music Therapy Techniques applied in the Normal School and to Children in the Special Withdrawal Unit

Abstract: The paper outlines work in two different schools - the first a small (450) boys' secondary school in Inner London (Sept 73-75) and the second in the largest single-sex school in Great Britain (Belfast 2,500) girls. Most of the children were either desruptive, hyperactive, passive, withdrawn, truant or remedial. Some had specific emotional disturbance. Tonal and Atonal improvisation, and creative writing were my main 'tools' in this work. This paper can be purchased from the BSMT price ú3.
