Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy of homeopathic remedies |
Journal/Book: Journal of holistic medicine. 1983; 5: 172-177.
Abstract: A brief introduction to homeopathy is presented, followed by the description of an experiment in which nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra were measured on 23 homeopathic remedies prepared in a solution of 87 percent ethanol and 13 percent water. NMR curves were compared with a control ethanol-water solution. Distinct differences between controls and homeopathic remedies were seen in the hydroxy regions of the NMR spectra. lt is postulated that the process of dilution and succession of homeopathic remedies produces a change in configuration of water and/or hydroxy groups, or a change in the interactions between them, which is detected by NMR.
