Music Therapy with a Disturbed Patient |
Journal/Book: Musiktherapeutische Umschau. 1982; 3: STUTTGART. G. Fischer Verlag. 119-130.
Abstract: This is the case study of a young man who describes himself as having "grown up like a radioactive element - in complete isolation". The fears and pressures arising from his emotional isolation have led to distortion and suppression in the fields of perception and experience, which in turn make independent and self-responsible action impossible. Music therapy as well as other forms of therapy (interview therapy, elements of psychodrama) are employed in an attempt to discover the background of the patient's current behaviour and give him, in a sheltered situation, the opportunity of learning new modes of experience and taking his first steps towards a wider range of behaviour.
