The effect of feedback versus no feedback on music therapy competencies |
Journal/Book: Journal of Music Therapy. 1982; 19: 130-140.
Abstract: Studied the effects of feedback vs no feedback and various teaching techniques on 3 music therapy competencies using 31 music therapy graduates and undergraduates enrolled in community clinical practica during a 10-wk quarter. Transfer data were gathered during a subsequent 10-wk quarter. The 3 music therapy competencies included the use of directions and prompts/cues, an opportunity for the client to respond with the desired nonmusic behavior, and pacing. Results show no significant differences in competency levels based on reception of feedback or timing of feedback presentation within the quarter. Competency transfer was not significant either within or between groups from one quarter until the next. (6 ref)
