Journal/Book: Lectins- Biology, Biochem., Clinical Biochem., Vol.II Walter de Gruyter & Co, New York, Berlin, p. 771-776. 1982;
Abstract: 1. These lectins consist of two different types of chains (A and B).Only the B chain has combining sites for carbohydrates. 2. ML I inhibitsprotein synthesis in a similar manner to ricin and abrin. 3. Toxicproteins of lower molecular weight are also known to be present in thewhole mistletoe plant, and in the seeds of Ricinus communis and Abrusprecatorius, in addition to the toxic lectins.
