Abstract: Special schoool education is not readily accorded the status of therapy. Hence the special school educator finds himself, as far as the concept of therapy is concerned, under greater vindicatory pressure than members of other social professions. In spite of (or because of) the varying positions represented within music therapy the possibility of its employment in special schools remains controversial. This situation elicits considerations which in turn lead to the formulation of questions highly relevant to therapy and yet hardly touched upon up to now within music therapy. The possibility of employing educational music therapy is firmly accepted and is exemplified in work with maladjusted schoolchildren.
