Music Therapy with Juvenile Delinquents

Abstract: The author presents the case of a juvenile delinquent whose music therapy treatment aimed to integrate his dissociated emotions towards women. The process culminated in the boy giving vent, within the protective therapeutic situation, to his sadistic tendencies. Eventually he was able to make constructive use of his aggression. - The author adds some theoretical speculations and - in view of the sad conclusion of the therapy - some general thoughts on the fact that the interests of traditional institutions and the aims of therapy are largely irreconcilable.
