Abstract: The introduction of music therapy into the university curriculum presents a number of problems, especially as music therapy has not up to now been a training course subject in Denmark or in other Scandinavian countries. In the author's opinion the development of the subject as a university discipline will be an absorbing interdisciplinary project in which the combination of theory and practice will contribute to the kind of educational and research atmosphere that the new University Centres particularly have tired to cultivate. The university Centre in Aalborg has, on the initiative of the Danish Association for Music Therapy, recommended to the Department of Education the introduction of a four-year training course for music therapists at the centre.
