La problematica del rapporto uomo-suono nella psicoterapia delle psicosi infantili. (The problem of the person-sound relationship in the psychotherapy of infant psychoses.) |

Abstract: Describes the use of music and sound therapy as adjuncts to psychotherapy with 14 primarily autistic children who were difficult to treat in the conventional manner due to their minimal verbal communication. Instead of considering stereotyped movements, autistic play, and nonverbal sounds as problems to eliminate, the therapist used them as rhythmic nonverbal communication, treating them as a primitive language. 13 of the 14 Ss showed significant interest in musical instruments. In addition to attending closely to the child's sounds and responses to sounds, with this approach the therapist uses his/her own sounds as indicators of countertransference.
