Journal/Book: Music Therapy. 1981; 1: 3-8.
Abstract: Outlines the use of music therapy in the treatment of a 5-yr-old boy with mild mental retardation, delayed speech, emotional deprivation, and an inability to cope with stress. Therapy was aimed at helping S to regress to infant behavior so as to regain his lost spontaneity, while encouraging nonverbal self-expression, freedom of choice, and increased self-confidence. At the end of 18 mo, these goals had been achieved.
