On the occupational situation of music therapists in North-Rhine-Westphalia

Abstract: The North-Rhine-Westphalian Area Study Group of the "Deutsche Gesellschaft für Musiktherapie" carried out a survey among its members in July 1979, with the aim of recording the occupational situation of music therapists in North-Rhine-Westphalia and establishing contact with the area colleagues. The result of the survey indicates a wide variety of employment situations for music therapists in clinical and non-clinical fields, but also the uncertainty of their offical vocational situation because of unspecified and varying training requirements. Hence the vocational specification of the music therapist is largely characterized by personal commitment and initiative.
